Heating Fund & Extravaganza '09 Pictures

The Revd Philippa Mills joined the staff of St.Mary's following her ordination at Portsmouth Cathedral at 12 noon on 4th July.  Philippa was welcomed at our services on Sunday 5th July and at a special 'Bring & Share' Welcome Lunch at 12 noon in the Hall.  

HEATING HELP!     

“At a vestry meeting in May 1890 a discussion took place with regard to the want of warmth in the church.  An iron cased furnace was installed in August 1890 in the under floor chamber.  The modern gas heating system was installed in March 1994” (St.Mary’s—A Church History).

This Spring we were disappointed that the 1994 heating system died!  The church is packed for so many community events, ceremonies and concerts which need warmth. 

As the summer ends we can now report that the £15000 has been raised to pay for the heating which is due to be installed at the end of September.  We are very grateful to all those in the church and community have worked so hard and given so generously to make this possible - thank you.  Most recently we gratefully acknowledge the support of Fareham Borough Council through a grant from the Community Action Team Funding.  This grant reflects the wide use of the church by the village community.
