Extravaganza Fete '09

The photos below illustrate the big community day in the grounds of St.Mary's Church Hall on 27th June 2009 was a great success with guests pushing 1000 people.  A lovely celebration in the sunshine; the activity of stalls, cream teas in the shade on the lawn to the harmonies of the Warsash Band. 

Hearing a 'crockery shy' smashing away kept turning heads to think there had been some incident with a broken window!  The traditional 'stocks' saw many volunteers take soaking sponges on the forehead in an attempt to cool down!  The Fringe Stage with Warsash Got Talent provided some warm and welcome performances.  The 'human fruit machine' brought laughter whilst the face paints, biscuit decoration, bouncy castle and play area, along with candy floss, popcorn and sweets kept the younger ones busy and sticky.  100s of books, beany babies, jewellery, bric-a-brac, cakes, fudge, bottles, jam led to a busy event.  Topped with the magnificent Cream Teas and BBQ.  In all a wonderful afternoon which added £1000 to the church heating fund.

Extravaganza Concert

The Extravaganza weekend started with a stunning performance by Paul Hart (Trumpet) and Liz LeGrove (Organ) along with the support of Southampton Youth Brass Band.  A high quality programme was enjoyed by 120 guests and helped raise £500 for the heating fund.  We're very grateful to the band and performers for their generosity in providing such a memorable evening for the church.

So, how's the Heating Fund going?

Starting at £2500 at the beginning of the weekend, the Extravaganza took the Church Heating Fund to it's half way mark at £7500 at the end of the weekend.  A week later gifts had surpassed £10000. 

OCTOBER 2009 UPDATE

The generous giving of the congregation and friends in the community, plus a generous grant from Fareham Borough Council's CAT Funding of £4000 helped us complete the fundraising and install the new heating system in October 2009.  A big thank you to all conerned for their help and endeavour on behalf of the church that it may serve the community for years to come.
