People Trafficking

Being Alive to God's people who are slaves...

A western lifestyle expects people to be free.  A Christian lifestyle demands that people's freedom and dignity before God be honoured.

At St.Mary's in 2007 we were pleased to join in the international celebrations at the 200 anniversary of the abolition of Slavery.  But, 2007 also illustrated the scale of people trafficking and modern slavery today.  Modern People Trafficking and the resultant abuse and slavery of individuals has grown to become the second largest crime around the world.  Many Christians have started to campaign, and in 2008 The Chairman of the 'Stop The Traffik' coalition, the minister Steve Chalke, was appointed a United Nations Ambassador against People Trafficking.

STOP THE TRAFFIK.  People shouldn't be bought & sold.    For information about People Trafficking and how to respond visit: www.stopthetraffik.org

Did you know you can campaign online regarding human justice issues with Christian Aid?  You can take online actions, order resources, sign up for email updates and much more!  Go to www.christianaid.org.uk/actnow to get started.  There you will find information and resources on campaigns like cut the carbon, conflict, HIV, corruption, trade justice, drop the debt etc.
