What is the Generous online community?
Generous is a bunch of people across the UK who believe that if a lot of people make small changes in the way they live, then together we can create a big change in favour of the planet and its people.
Generous has invited people in the Portsmouth Anglican Diocese to commit to taking regular steps to make our lives more generous – from turning down the heating or putting a brick in our cisterns (to save water) to starting to shop local and fairtrade or unplugging our phone chargers. Many of these actions tie in with our Diocese and parish environmental policies, reflecting the Church of England challenge to Shrink our Footprint.
Generous is easy and free to JOIN. Each month you will be e-mailed a suggested generous action from our environmental advisor Rev. Andy Norris. Every time you COMMIT to an action it is recorded on line. Your own profile page on the site reminds you of the Generous steps you pledge to take. WATCH as the the site calculates the cumulative effect. Together our congregation and our Diocese can make a difference.
